Outreach Health Programs
Trinity Care Foundation
Better Health ! Better Education ! Improving Health & Education for underserved populations.
Community outreach programs is an important vehicle for reducing the discovery-delivery disconnect by bringing health education and Health screening services directly to community members. Such programs are consistent with the priority areas of Trinity Care Foundation initiatives for reducing health disparities
Benefits of outreach services
1.?Positive health outputs;
Outreach services can provide closer surveillance of the?population, which would improve the continuum of care?and make collecting, retrieving and disseminating heath?information more efficient and comprehensive. This contributes?to disease surveillance
2.?Increasing access to health specialists in?remote areas;?Most developing countries lack specialists. This is particularly?the case in remote or rural areas, where front-line?health centres are very often staffed only with?nurses. Outreach strategies can provide specialist visits?to underserved populations.
3.?Increasing quality of care
4.?Time and cost saving for patients in remote areas?Time and cost to access health facilities often constitute?a major obstacle to seeking care. It is not uncommon for a patient to be obliged to allow one full day of travel in order?to access a health structure. These indirect costs can be so?high as to be catastrophic for the financial stability of a?household.
5.?Continuing education for health workers

6.?Mitigating health professionals’ feelings of isolation?Feelings of isolation and loneliness are very common in?remote areas, where health workers can be confronted?with excessive workloads and have no peers with whom to?share views on the difficulties they face. Feeling better?at work increases the productivity and motivation of?health workers, and helps retain them in remote areas.
