Outer Space: A Perspective
Every now and then I get curious on relative size and how to conceptualize the size of the universe. How do you even grasp the size of a light year let along 1,000,000,000 light years? I thought I would break it down into reasonable sizes and work my way up.
I borrowed some pictures from Apple Maps and NASA. I also tried to keep the scale for objects correct to help understand not only the distance but also the size of objects.
When it comes to the Earth/Moon orbit, there is misconception that the Moon is very close to the Earth like below:
The reality is more like below.
In conclusion, the universe is much larger than we can imagine. So easy does it.

Robert, Nice visuals! This was a lot of effort and you succintly summed up that both the Earth and moon are in fact flat via diagram 3 and 4.... or were you not saying that?
