Outdated plug-ins = website disaster
I wanted to get in touch with a friendly reminder to update your plug-ins!
You are probably thinking, “April, what are you going on about?”, but I am desperate to save you from disaster.
A plug-in is a small software component (a bit like an app) that adds extra functionality or features to your Wordpress website. However, did you know that if you don’t regularly update your plug-ins, and other elements of your website, the whole site can crash?
Furthermore, if you leave it too long between updates, a plug-in may become incompatible with your site or its theme, and will no longer work, leaving you without potentially vital functionality.
Finally, and sorry to scare you…but it’s so important…because out dated plug-ins can also leave your website exposed to viruses and bugs.
So, what should you do now?! If you have never updated any plug-ins or had support with the maintenance of your website, please get in touch with me before you do anything further.
If your website is relatively new and you are confident about the recency of your plug-ins then make a note now (add a reminder or notification, whatever it takes) to update them regularly.
