As a professional, it's important to stay up to date on the latest methods and techniques in your field. This is especially true for those of us in the quality improvement field. The Lean Six Sigma principles that we use today are vastly different from the ones that were used 20 years ago, and yet there are still some facilitators out there who are teaching the old way. This can be a problem for a few reasons.
First of all, the old methods simply aren't as effective as the new ones. Over the past 20 years, there have been major breakthroughs in our understanding of how best to improve quality and efficiency. If you're stuck using outdated methods, you're not going to be able to achieve the same results as someone who is using the latest and greatest techniques.?
Second, outdated methods can be dangerous. Some of the old techniques involve putting people into uncomfortable or even dangerous positions in order to complete a task. This is not only unsafe, but it can also lead to animosity among team members. Finally, using outdated methods can make it difficult to attract and retain top talent.?
When potential employees see that you're still using methods from 20 years ago, they may question your commitment to quality improvement and decide to work for a company that is more forward-thinking.?
If you're still using Lean Six Sigma methods from 20 years ago, it's time to update your approach. The old methods simply aren't as effective as the new ones, and they can even be dangerous. In today's competitive marketplace, you need to do everything you can to attract and retain top talent. Updating your methods is one way to show potential employees that you're committed to quality improvement.
