The outcome of raising your hand to volunteer
Thank you to my friend Michael Martell for taking this photo as I accepted IABC/Toronto's Mentor of the Year Award.

The outcome of raising your hand to volunteer

Perhaps I’m a sucker for volunteering, but good things always seem to happen when I do.

This past year, I had the pleasure of mentoring a smart young communication professional, Maketo Binzangi. He’s thoughtful, inquisitive and has clear goals – all attributes of someone who is destined to go far in life. If you’re looking for a solid, bilingual young communicator, please connect with him. Our conversations were engaging and our early morning coffees were a pleasure. Having been selected as the Mentor of the Year in the world’s largest chapter of IABC is just icing on the cake. And to all the volunteers who make the great IABC Mentorship Program happen, thank you!

I agree. The best years of my life and business are the years when I'm actively involved in professional and charitable organizations as a volunteer leader.
