Out of work looking for work? Plan your day
If you're dedicating your entire day to job searching, it's important to approach it with structure, just like a full-time job. It’s not about working non-stop from morning till night, but about staying focused, organized, and avoiding burnout. Here’s a sample plan to help you stay productive and balanced.
Morning Session (9 AM – 12 PM)
9:00 AM – 9:30 AM: Set Your Goals for the Day
Start by reviewing your career goals, both short-term and long-term. Prioritize your tasks and check your email and LinkedIn for any messages or updates. This helps you start your day with clarity and purpose.
9:30 AM – 10:30 AM: Job Search & Applications
Look for job openings that align with your goals on job boards, company websites, and LinkedIn. Tailor your resume for each application, and be sure to track your submissions so you can follow up later.
10:30 AM – 11:00 AM: Take a Break
Step away from the computer, stretch, take a short walk, or do something to recharge.
11:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Skill Building
Use this time to develop new skills or sharpen existing ones through online courses, webinars, or reading industry-related content. Staying up-to-date keeps you competitive in the job market.
Afternoon Session (1 PM – 5 PM)
1:00 PM – 2:00 PM: LinkedIn Networking
Interact with your professional network by commenting on relevant posts and connecting with new contacts. This is also a good time to follow up with previous connections or send a thank-you note.
2:00 PM – 3:00 PM: Continue Job Search & Applications
Keep searching for more job opportunities and submitting tailored applications for positions that match your goals.
