Out of the terrible twos and now a 3-year-old.

That’s right, we are now a not so wobbly laughing toddler running around the office, making car noises and causing mayhem. (Bruuuummmmmmmmmm)

If you know me personally you will know that I have an honest and open approach to running a company. I put everything out there, the successes of running a business, the hard times...if I am going through an emotion with it you will know about it. I like that, it makes me human and it keeps me grounded.

I wrote a blog on Linkedin when we reached 1 year and in there I reflected on people, quality vs quantity and confidence. I can’t believe it has been three years already and I am so glad that I wrote that piece so that I could look back. Those themes are still relevant today.

Being 3 years old, I feel like we have moved mountains and done some incredible work. Keeping with the number 3 theme, below are 3 things I have learnt, are proud of and plans for the future.

3 things I have learnt.

  1. Celebrate the little things
  2. Be confident and believe in yourself - ‘I do know what I am talking about’’
  3. Ignore the hate. I can guarantee those who don’t understand or look down on you will be begging to get to know you when they see the successes.

3 things I am proud of

  1. Keeping a roof over my head, food on the table and the lights on
  2. Growing the VU team (In total we have between 10-15 members of the VU Team either part-time, contractors or freelancers)
  3. When times have got tough, and they have got tough, we didn’t give up. We have been close to moments where we felt like shutting down the company but then we kept going and it always worked out.

3 things for the future

  1. This year I want to focus more on projects I really want to work on and not saying yes to everything
  2. Scaling up - I guess this is the year to do it.
  3. Keeping positive always.

If you want to know more about my journey with running a business, I am currently in the process of finishing my book. Hopefully will be available soon and I can’t wait to share it. Keep an eye out for it.

As always I can't thank enough everyone that has been involved in helping us with VU. You know who you are.
