Out and About This October

Well…. It was another busy month here at Changeworks.

Our colleagues travelled around the UK and over to Europe, starting with our Chief Executive, Josiah Lockhart, and Deputy Director George Drennan-Lang’s visit to the SEWF - Social Enterprise World Forum C.I.C. in Amsterdam.

The Forum was a great opportunity to meet like-minded individuals from the 2,000+ attendees, as well as discuss how we can move forward together in helping to solve some of the world’s problems by putting people and planet first. A few of the individuals they met were from Sociale InnovatieFabriek, LendForGood, Scottish Enterprise and Dechomai Ltd.

After the Forum, Josiah travelled to Birmingham for Solar & Storage Live with colleagues Iain Davies and Finn Howley, where the trio enjoyed the opportunity to network with experts in the renewable energy sector. It was also a great chance for them to have further discussions about learnings, barriers, and solutions in the industry, such as the skills gap, demand for clearer policies and the increased desire from consumers for energy independence.

The Ethnic Minority Environmental Network Conference took place on October 12th. As part of the conference our Head of Community Engagement & Energy Advice Services, Morven Masterton, joined the final panel discussion which focused on projects like our partnership with British Gas Energy Trust supporting minoritised ethnic communities.

Closer to home, our Low Carbon Communities Team colleagues were in attendance at several events in the Dalkeith area to share energy advice, information on the priority services register and support householders with information on the Warm Home Discount scheme.

We continued our partnership with CEMVO and British Gas Energy Trust on the Energy Saving for All project. This included an online event where our colleagues Kathleen Vaughn, Rima Said and Angela Mitchell provided a presentation giving an overview of the project, volunteer recruitment from minoritised ethnic communities, and the support and benefits available for both the communities and volunteers. We look forward to continuing this vital work for people and our planet.

We also showcased our recent project management work with MELVILLE HOUSING ASSOCIATION LIMITED to install energy efficiency measures. More information can be found at - Changeworks and Melville Housing Association

Keep watching our channels for more information including this year’s international retrofit conference and COP28 which are coming up in November.
