An Out of Africa Experience

Red Bank, NJ- In honor of Black History Month the T. Thomas Fortune Cultural Center presents An Out of Africa Experience, a fundraiser to benefit the Cultural Center's educational programming. The T. Thomas Fortune Cultural Center is a National Historic Landmark, located in Red Bank, NJ, which is the home of William "Count Basie," and the 1850's Victorian style home was recently added to the NJ Black Heritage Trail.

An Out of Africa Experience will feature The Brandon McCune Trio and The Black Wine Guy Experience (BWGE). Pianist Brandon McCune has accompanied an amazing cache of jazz greats, such as bassist Buster Williams, the incomparable Betty Carter, Wynton Marsalis and more. In 1998, McCune was named the U.S. Ambassador of Jazz to Africa and has performed on an array of jazz recordings. Check him out at Smalls Jazz Club in NYC performing with his quintet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tw8pJhpqQOc

You'll stay on the Motherland and get your wine-tasting on with MJ Towler, who has made a colorful splash into the world of wine culture with his popular podcast the BWGE. He'll be your tour guide as we visit some of South Africa's Black-owned vineyards to broaden your grapevine experience. You're in for a real treat! Jazz, wine, and southern fare. Tickets are $100 and can be purchased at https://secure.givelively.org/event/t-thomas-fortune-foundation/annual-fortune-giving-campaign/out-of-africa-a-black-history-month-celebration
