As the governments declared holidays in Chennai and Bengaluru due to heavy rains, once again we were reminded of the impact of climate change and systemic failures to handle floods, water logging and other commuting challenges. Even as the power outages and water logging continued, the Save Ennore Creek campaign released an open letter pointing to blockages as one of reasons for floods.??
We will continue to connect the dots, for example, between climate change, extreme weather events and loss of green cover, or for example between pollution and increased construction in Mumbai, as part of our endeavour to encourage civic action for sustainable cities.?
Another area of work, which people have supported and appreciated is useful information. To take it further, this week we have two explainers, one from Bengaluru and one from Chennai. One is about getting e-khata in Bengaluru and the other focuses on various aspects of redevelopment in Chennai.???
