Our unseen and uncelebrated heroes

Our unseen and uncelebrated heroes of cancer research are in labs all over the USA. The article below illustrates one reason why it takes so long to develop effective drugs for childhood cancer or any other cancer. It also it demonstrates the absolute determination of scientists to contribute to improving the lives of cancer patients. It also shows why future scientists will have a passion for the work they do. The future young investigators will be influenced by examples taught them by people like Dr. Paul Sorensen. This scientist, investigator, after 20 years of hard work finally being realized, simply remarked, “It’s good for people in the lab now to see that what they do can have some meaning,” he said. “It’s not just a bunch of scientists playing in a sandbox … but it actually means something to patients.” #ChildhoodCancer is worth it. A big thank you to all who go to the lab bench everyday wishing to make a difference.
