Our Unconditional Promise
What’s amazing about living a Christian life is that we not only experience the benefits of His wisdom and knowledge, but we also have His assurance of His daily presence. Proverbs 2:6 “For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding.” When we make the decision to believe, trust, and follow Christ, we gain a never-ending relationship with our Heavenly Father, Almighty God. Hebrews 13:5-6: “… ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’ So we can confidently say, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?’” This is one of the most powerful statements in the New Testament. In the Greek transcripts, it contains two double negatives, and could be translated “No, I will never leave you.” or “No, neither will I forsake you.” We have God’s promise that no matter what happens in our lives, He will always be there and will never abandon us. He is our Helper, our Sustainer, our Provider, and our source of complete security. We cannot be touched by anything the Lord does not permit. During trials of life, and we will have them, we know God is sufficient for every situation that could ever appear. King David expressed it well; Psalm 27:1-2: “The LORD is my light and my salvation, so why should I be afraid? The LORD is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble? When evil people come to devour me, when my enemies and foes attack me, they will stumble and fall.” When we stand in such awe of the living Lord, the insincere world loses its power over us. Sadly, we will see people who choose a heartbreaking and unpromising path by abandoning their faith. They lose their love of God; they change their minds and follow the idols of self-reliance, fame, and money. Could we abandon the truth of the gospel and fall away as well? We must remain mindful and remember that God, who has started good work in us, promised to complete everything He started. Reject the social and cultural deceptions that are overcoming so many and choose the riches of God's goodness, love, mercy, and provision, which He will pour into our lives like rivers from heaven! Our decision is firmly placed in the confidence of the Lord. The Bible says, Isaiah 30:15: “This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says: ‘Only in returning to Me and resting in Me will you be saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength.’” ?As worship of the idols of wealth, power, and fame accelerate, the Word of God sustains us. 1 Corinthians 10:13: “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation He will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” God has us in His mighty hand, and He will never leave us nor forsake us.
