Our Trending Color of the Month: Diminutive Pink

At MHM Professional Staging, we love using color to turn an ordinary house into a buyer’s dream home. Each month, our designers share a color that inspires their staging designs. This month, our trending color is Diminutive Pink (SW 6558). Although February’s color of the month was also a shade of pink, Diminutive Pink is much lighter and more sophisticated.

About the Hue

Diminutive Pink is a kind and warm color. It’s a gentle tone that’s inviting, relaxing, and can calm aggression. This color is romantic and feminine. It can make any room feel soft and lighthearted.

How and When to Use Diminutive Pink

With an LRV, or light-reflecting value, of 76, Diminutive Pink absorbs a lot of light. Colors with a high LRV can make a room appear more spacious. This makes it safe to paint a whole room if desired. However, if you are planning to sell your home in the near future, we don’t recommend this color. It’s best to keep everything neutral when staging your home. Diminutive Pink is a little too feminine and personal.

Paired with Mid-Century Details

Keep Diminutive Pink from looking too feminine by pairing it with mid-century details. Dark wood furniture and geometric patterned pillows add a more masculine edge to the color for a balanced appeal.

As an Accent

If painting all the walls is too much pink for you, you can always incorporate splashes of the color instead. Incorporate a single piece of furniture in this color or select artwork that uses the tone as an accent. Consider adding a pink velvet chair or loveseat. It will definitely lighten up the room.

Mixed with Textures

Diminutive looks stunning with white marble. It also mixes well with metallics like bronze and gold. Add touches of gold using gold frames, a bar cart, or even a coffee table to elevate your space. For a more bohemian vibe, mix with textures like wicker or rattan.

Coordinating Colors

Earth Tones

For a calm and modern, beachy vibe, pair Diminutive Pink with a healthy amount of warm, earth tones. This color palette is light and airy and will make you feel instantly relaxed.

Dark Tones

If you want a bolder look, pair Diminutive Pink with darker colors and patterns. For a sleek and modern look, mix Diminutive Pink with black. Dark colors tone down the color’s femininity. You can try a deep blue like Classic Blue, Pantone’s Color of the Year. If you’re going for a fashionable and chic look, Diminutive Pink looks very stylish with a medium shade of green such as Rural Green (SW 6418).

Neutral Tones

Mix this pink with neutrals for a youthful aesthetic. It looks darling paired with whites like Ibis White (SW 7000). A minimalist room that’s mainly white looks great with splashes of pink. The color also looks great with grays. Try a bluish-gray like Poolhouse (SW 7603)
