Our Time - Boost gender equality in your workplace
Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan
Mayor of London at Greater London Authority
There’s never been a more urgent time to tackle gender inequality at work. We’re calling on employers to introduce our scheme to break down the barriers women face in the workplace and download the Our Time Toolkit today.
It’s not only the right thing to do, it also makes good business sense. A 2015 study by consultancy McKinsey & Company found that a 10 per cent increase in gender diversity on senior teams boosted companies’ earnings by 3.5 per cent.
Women in London are still paid less than men, and the gender gap in London is the largest in the country. Across the workforce, women remain significantly underrepresented in senior roles – only six CEOs in FTSE 100 companies are women, and there are more people called Steve or Stephen heading up FTSE 100 companies than women. The pay gap between men and women working in London has barely changed in over two decades.
You’ve heard the figures, and it’s time we changed them.
The Our Time programme pairs talented women with champions at a senior management level who can open up the professional networks, opportunities and contacts often needed to progress to leadership positions. We need more women leading London to make our city even more successful, and we need it to start with people like you. Our Time is up and running at City Hall and organisations including Transport for London, Met Police, AND London & Partners. Companies such as Westfield, and Lloyd’s of London have already starting adopting the scheme, but we want it to go further, and spread across our city into workplaces like yours. That’s why we’ve created a free toolkit to make it easy for your organisation to get started.
The free toolkit contains all the resources needed to set up and deliver Our Time in your organisation. It can be the first step an organisation takes to support women into senior leadership positions or it can be used to complement existing talent development or diversity and inclusion initiatives. The toolkit contains a comprehensive, ready-to-implement set of materials that set out step-by-step how to establish Our Time, while providing fresh inspiration.

4 年I agree with Mayor, its all good for Business but not for family!! as they use to say , women can do men's work, but not the other way . however since women still be paid less, she can ask for working less too,? so that she can have a family or spend more money in the economy :p

4 年Why is it that in this 21st century I find only myself in the engineering team. Why am I the only BAME in the floor plate why is it that going to oxford university and speaking about women in engineering is not supported by the Royal Navy? We need to do something. This is a problem beyond STEM in schools. It's about mentality of our society
