Our Thinking Can Betray Us...

Good day!

I'll put together a few ideas for you today...

I've been doing some thinking, planning, and driving the golf cart for the boy...

Something interesting to me is marketing research and over the years, I've figured out that what isn't spoken clearly or what is left unsaid is often the most powerful bit...

This morning, I read a piece on The Atlantic about why the economic results and feelings in America don't seem to match up.

The short answer:

  • We have collected, unprocessed trauma about COVID.
  • When we don't process trauma, it remains in the present and active.

In other words, our thoughts can betray us.

This makes framing powerful.

You can think about that and look at this piece I put together a little while ago about marketing research that came from my work with 4-5 of the biggest sports brands in the world.

Link wouldn't insert...

Enjoy!

I've also been doing a regular posting here on LinkedIn where I draw you a graph of an idea with an explanation.

Kait LeDonne is an ace personal branding expert and she said posts with your face on them help a lot with views, engagement, and personal branding...I have been taking it for a test drive and how noticed that the engagement and post numbers have jumped a lot.

Here's a photo of my mug with one of recent favorites on strategy.

I teach you strategy.

The key takeaway is that you never see a business that says they will let the market decide about its products or services and makes focused decisions.

That's a unicorn.

A few of the other posts:

I do take requests.

If you have a question or an idea that you want placed into Dave's thinking blender, send it to me in the DMs or the comments and I'll see what I can come up with.

A Few Folks That Have Shared Some Cool Stuff:

HOW AM I DOING?

I love to hear from you.

How am I doing with 'Profit Driven'?

Is there anything you’d like to see more or less of?

Which aspects of the newsletter do you enjoy the most?

Say hello — I’d love to hear from you!

I'm still working out what I'm doing here.

Cheers!

Dave

The unspoken message is the one to think about, what's not said holds more insights than what is said and it must be considered. Your point Dave Wakeman on unprocessed trauma is something I've been thinking about and how it impacts Gen Z entering the workforce. They are the ones who may have been hardes hit but the pandemic, and as leaders we must think about how we develop our own EQ skills to address this. Be great to hear your view on this.
