Our Technology
At Millennial Scientific, we discover and manufacture custom sustainable separation materials in a continuous stream of tiny microdroplets - a safe, eco-friendly, and more cost-effective process than traditional industrial methods.?We then quickly generate a library of materials in these microdroplets and?iterate to identify the best candidates for a particular application.
Microfluidic-based micron-sized droplet generation for material synthesis has emerged as a promising technique. These methods allow for much higher precision and repeatability than conventional atomization techniques. It integrates a microfluidic droplet-based scalable manufacturing method and unique combinations of starting material, binder, stabilizer, and additives to generate micro-emulsions and microbeads. The choice of starting materials, crosslinkers, and optional additives provides a toolbox for customizing composition, structure, and function.
We not only focus on materials R&D, that allows the design of customizable microbeads, but also on processes that will quickly facilitate transfer to pilot—and full-scale manufacturing. We are further advancing the platform by including machine learning and automation elements to develop material acceleration platforms that facilitate early material discovery and can?scale up seamlessly.
This technology underpins the synthesis of our current highly differentiated carbon-microbeads based suite of chromatography products. These include:
