Our Success is in our Planning

At the BCC Geospatial Center of the CUNY CREST Institite we created a unique all year round curricula and program and implemented it by employing a strategic model that is the cornerstone of our success and across country outreach. This resulted in high enrollments and impactful delivery of workforce skills and career pathways. By working with an Industry consortium, CUNY administrators, RF-CUNY, Grants Office, NSF and NASA directorates, K-16 education network and many other stakeholders we delivered a wide range of scholarly activities that has not only exposed our students and educators to emerging technologies but also provided them with analytical skill sets. When we were challenged during the pandemic we developed a unique public-cloud-based virtual system by tapping into Amazon Web Service's (AWS) vast ocean of services. This enabled us to host software licenses, perform machine learning, image analyses and deliver scientific projects using BIG Data, sustain our high enrollments and programmatic goals and even expand our outreach. The opportunity to work for CUNY and serve students must be backed by innovation in research and education that will lead to true empowerment of students and faculty.
