OUR STORY KIWANIS MALAYSIA ACADEMY

Dato Fatimah Saad invited me when she was forming a team in 2019 to drive Kiwanis Malaysia Academy. I could see her excitement and commitment as she shared her vision for Kiwanis Malaysia Academy and serving the children and all stakeholders with the right programs in place. There were visits to Ministries and organizations and a road trip too! Ivan Oh, was joined by Prof Abtar Kaur, Datin Halimatolhanin Mohd Khalid, and Puan Rogayah Saad ( a great supporter of KMA) on this road trip to visit several Kiwanis centres. All the visits and road trips gave us a holistic view of special needs education requirements for teachers, parents, and those administering the centres.

Despite everyone is working and our busy schedule the Kiwanis Malaysia Academy Team carried out our respective tasks and we did our best to attend the monthly meetings hosted by our Chair Dato Fatimah Saad. What we saw was our meetings and teamwork are truly pivotal to power our Vision and small steps taken in the right direction can produce great results. We had the soft launch of Kiwanis Malaysia Academy during the Kiwanis District Convention 2020 ??????.

Kiwanis Malaysia Academy is driven by a team passionate and dedicated to providing courses and guidelines for all centres to adhere to standards set by Kiwanis Malaysia to help children, youths, and adults and 2 learning portals for Kiwanis Members a lifelong learning platform and for their children a STEMCareer learning platform. The courses are in line with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4: i) provide Quality Learning Content ii) making Learning Inclusive so no one is left behind iii) most importantly to ENCOURAGE LIFELONG LEARNING to be future-ready and 21st Century ready. Kudos to our Conference Chair Fatimah Abu Bakar who did a great job that contributed to the super success of our Kiwanis Malaysia Academy's Inaugural Special Needs Education Symposium ??????????

The Symposium shared on Challenges and Issues in Dyslexia, Autism, Down Syndrome and Research Findings and Success Stories on Special Education Needs Programs and was well received by the participants locally and internationally. I was the moderator for Track 3 during the SEN Symposium and like to share my takeaway; there is a growing awareness of the capabilities of persons with disabilities. However, we need to continue to create awareness that early detection is key, there are those in denial and some not aware but to reiterate, early detection is key, and providing the right physical, emotional and educational support is key to help children with special needs making it great in their life ???

Our other successful events include PEAK Summits and a Youth Leadership Camp.

Congratulations Team Kiwanis Malaysia Academy, ... let's make it more awesome ?????????????
