Our Staffing Story
It’s no secret that we are all living through challenging times; the only consolation being that we are all in this together and there is a greater understanding of the difficulties currently being faced by businesses throughout the UK, if not globally.
The Food and Drink sector is no different and although seen by many as an attractive, energetic industry to work in (and it is), we have hurdles to overcome every day, just like every other sector.
The resilience we have collectively demonstrated throughout the last few years has made me incredibly proud not only to be part of an industry which has shown strength and flexibility, but a country, where the people push through, support each other and collectively rise to the challenges we face, no matter how unprecedented.
There is no doubt that the sector’s success is built on passion, ingenuity and hard work, however the constant rough seas we were forced to navigate, resulting from Brexit, Covid and global uncertainties, still hit us hard.
Supply and costs are important factors within this equation; however, it is the constant challenge of staffing which affects our business every day.
People are the backbone of Giacopazzis; as a small family business, each and every staff member is part of a close team and a vital part to the smooth running of our business. We are fortunate to have a strong core of staff; loyal, hardworking and incredibly adaptable, especially considering the challenges of late.

Upsizing is where our staffing issues kick-in and recruiting new staff members in a relatively small geographical area, with a reduced personnel pool.
Training is therefore key to us, recruiting staff with the same passion, commitment, drive and team spirit and a willingness to learn the tools of our industry from the ground up.
This is one of the ways we turn a negative into a positive; hopefully instilling our passion to new individuals and offering a career within an industry which generates great value to the local economy.
While challenges will continue to present themselves every day – that is business – we feel we have cause to applaud our team and our industry for showing resilience through adversity and flexing to accommodate new business practices amidst challenging times.
