simpleclub is a remote-only, post-Series A company headquartered in Germany. We have by now over 100 employees who are mostly based in Germany, but since we believe that talent has no borders, we also hire outside of Germany through an Employment of Record (EOR) model.
When we implement a new tool or sign off a partnership, we care a lot about flexibility, an eye-to-eye partnership, GDPR compliance, and cost-effectiveness.
This is our current chosen HR Tech Stack:
?? HRS: Exactly 2 years ago we implemented Personio and are still quite happy with it. It offers what we need considering our size. We also manage time tracking, document signatures, and on- and offboardings through Personio. If you are a 500+ plus company, I wouldn’t recommend Personio at that stage, as companies this size need a lot more automated processes, and analytics which Personio doesn’t offer widely at the moment. Though it strongly looks like they will get there ??
?? Employment of Record (EOR): We’ve been very happy Remote customers and have faced very few issues, which we have always managed to overcome.
?? ATS (Recruitment): Pinpoint Applicant Tracking System . We used Greenhouse before and switched because Greenhouse was way too expensive in relation to the features that we needed. With Pinpoint we are currently growing together. Through Pinpoint, we are able to manage applications efficiently and new features are added frequently.?
??Compensation: Figures & Ravio . From my pov, those tools are your best friend if you are a start-up! We decided last year that we want to move towards compensation transparency, incl. rolling out transparent salary bands. Having a proper data source to make that happen is absolute key. We create our salary bands based on a combination of data from Figures & Ravio, and we feel confident that this approach allows us to share relevant salary bands with each individual in the company and in our job posts.?
??????Training & Development: Sunlight Technologies . One of the best Learning & Development tools I ever came across! If you really want to be flexible on what training & learning solutions to offer, Sunlight is your go-to tool! The main idea of Sunlight is that you assign your available budget to the employees and they can select any kind of learning solution they want. From books, conferences, Udemy trainings, internal learning content, up to app subscriptions - anything is possible and our employees love it!?

?? Perks: Probonio is a platform we have recently launched and that allows us to assign tax-relevant perks that apply to the German market. Employees can choose between meal & mobility allowances and a wide range of vouchers. This platform also has a mobile app and is easy to use. For our employees who are based outside Germany, we are managing perks through perks allowances, but we haven’t found a perfect solution yet.?
?? 360 Feedback and Career Development: Google Forms ??. That works for now, considering our size, but we are currently exploring specialized and flexible tools
?? Engagement Insights: Also currently exploring, but in the meantime, we have introduced 1:1 Stay Interviews that team leads run with every team member. For those who hear about Stay Interviews for the first time: Stay Interviews are basically “Exit” interviews, that managers conduct with each team member while they are part of the company, to avoid them leaving for preventable reasons.? We conduct Stay Interviews to increase engagement and take relevant actions.?
?? Labor Law: twinwin . If you are a German startup that does not have an internal employment lawyer, twinwin is a great solution. Basically, it is a platform that offers legally-proofed documents, freelancer checks, and the opportunity for legal consultations where needed and with a transparent payment model.
??? People Analytics: peopleIX . Recently one of my favorite tools! If you really want to be a strategic HR function, having a people analytics tool is an essential factor. PeopleIX has an API to almost all key HR Tools and accordingly, offers us analytical data from our HRS, ATS, and EOR, on one platform. PeopleIX are frequently adding new features and we have a great collaboration with them.
And last but not least, ChatGPT+ ??: For us, it is absolutely worth it having invested in a plus-account. We use Chatgpt for recruitment, brainstorming, goal setting, and concept creation.
This tech stack is certainly not the end of our road. We will continue to grow, innovate and learn. We are confident that our tech stack will be enriched with future additions that we can't wait to share ??

In terms of engagement tools, in my former People Director life, Culture Amp and Glint were ones that I got great value from once we'd hit the scale up phase (around 200+). Thanks for sharing...
