Our Selective Journalism!

?"Fek Do Uthake. Arrest Karo Saali Ko". Possibly you may think these cussed words are from some Hindi film. May be a villain the garb of policeman? No it was MLA from Karnataka. Was it during those heydays of sixties or seventies, where conduct of politicians was unquestionable? Wrong again. This happened in the current year 2016. The reporter was from Time Now news channel and sitting Karnataka MLA happened to be Mr Ashok Kheny.

Recently, Pastani TV reporter was slapped by the security personnel. Across India, most of the newspapers have printed this news at least on page 7 or 9 or even 11. TV Channel like India Today has uploaded this news on their website. But then why Indian media was silent about what happened in India whereas most of the newspapers or TV news channels are broadcasting what happened in Pakistan? Answers worth analysing!

Times Now news channel is taking up cause of women. How Trupti Desai storm-trooped Shani Shingapur temple or women's entry in Haji Ali Dargah they have conducted several debates. However, the channel was ungenerous by not showing any clip when a TV reporter from ABP Majha was shown door in a religious meet because she was a "woman". Why Times Now did not report about this misogyny?

Selective broadcast or printing of the news or is due to rivalry amongst the TV channels or even print media Vs electronic media. Rivalry forces media to push such news under the carpet. The second reason is our superiority complex against Pakistan. We always enjoy Pakistan in portraying in bad light. While doing so, little do we forget that every other day we have horrific accidents, fire tragedies, stampede, epidemics and so on that puts our head in shame. We enjoy news of incivility from comes from across the border though we are no different from them! How long pot will continue to call Kettle black?
