?? Our secret ingredient for writing your future

Our first newsletter. Yay! We'll talk about how you can innovate with great software products, and how you can make sure that they make a true impact. We'll share opinions on the latest trends, give insights on software development, and tell about fun moments with the team... On today's agenda: why adopting a startup mentality helps you to innovate.

Embracing a startup mentality helps you innovate

Many companies innovate. That's great, you should too! We believe that you should embrace a startup mentality for your innovation to succeed.

But why a startup mentality, right? Well... what most startups have in common is a lack of time, a lack of money but also a lot of expertise. Startups often have to be very creative and inventive to succeed. However, these startups deliver a lot of value to the table through their innovation.

To help you with your innovation, we'll present you with three tips.

1. Embrace innovation through iteration ??

Don't aim too far straight away. Start small, grow big. Start with setting up an experiment. Low-cost, low-effort, but gaining a lot of insights. Collect these insights, analyze them, and use them for your next iteration. Every iterative step brings you a bit closer to your goal.

Tiny, but calculated steps will bring you to your goal. But uncalculated and large steps won't.

2. Focus on validation instead of assumptions ???

Before fully committing to an idea, try to identify the assumptions you've made and validate them. Use your experiments to test your assumptions, before taking too big of a leap.

Talk with people to gain extra information, analyze the impact of your experiments, and use these insights to validate your assumption. Be very cautious of latent variables while doing so.

3. Maximize impact while minimizing budget ??

Map out the cost and impact of your ideas. Start with the ideas that would have a large impact, but only require minimal effort or cost. These are the ones that might have the highest returns right from the start.

After-work makes the dream work

We had a wonderful after-work at our office in Ghent a few weeks ago. Thanks to everyone for making it an evening filled with joy and laughter. You'll certainly be invited next time ??!

We believe that facilitating opportunities for people to connect and share ideas works as a catalyst for innovation. That's why we invest in moments like these: bringing together people with various backgrounds for an evening of cross-pollination. Oh, and the drinks and bites of course.

Shaping tomorrow's innovators

We had to say goodbye to our two interns for this semester, Ronan and Dario. They learned how to build software products in a lean way, how they should validate their assumptions, and work as a team.

We also supervised three students in their bachelor's thesis. They worked on various innovative topics such as generative AI and the decentralization of personal data using Solid pods. It's amazing to see how these young talents use their skills to make the world a better place.
