Our Retrospective Exhibition is Coming to Singapore, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Dubai
The 1916 Company (WatchBox)
Introducing The 1916 Company. A New Era in Watch Collecting.
One of the most remarkable events WatchBox has ever produced, happened last November, when for the first time, WatchBox organized a traveling Retrospective Exhibition dedicated specifically to F.P. Journe and De Bethune. The exhibition also included a number of unusual and even exotic pieces from other manufacturers, including a historically important Grand Complication from IWC, as well as some extraordinarily rare early F.P. Journe wristwatches, and a representative collection of De Bethune timepieces including the very first De Bethune ever made – a DB1 monopusher chronograph.
In 2023, those who were unable to see the Retrospective Exhibition in Geneva in November will have a chance to join WatchBox at its locations in Singapore, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Dubai, for a look both at the benchmark collector’s watches from F.P. Journe and De Bethune which were the star pieces in Geneva, as well as pieces from the unique collections at the WatchBox lounges in the four cities we’ll be visiting in January and February of 2023.
You’ll be able to join hosts from WatchBox and De Bethune, including Tim Mosso, Jack Forster, WatchBox VP of sales and?host of our show, Mayer Time, George Mayer, as well as De Bethune’s CEO Pierre Jacques and International Head of Sales J?rg Hysek, to experience both an unparalleled range of vintage and current production De Bethune watches, F.P. Journe timepieces, and other rare and important watches from the WatchBox collection.

European Tour Highlights
The Exhibition coincided with a couple of other major events on the watch collector calendar – it was fall Auction Week in Geneva as well as the week of the Grand Prix Horologerie de Genéve, and it was also the inaugural launch of ReLuxury, an exhibition dedicated to pre-owned luxury timepieces in particular, and pre-owned luxury goods in general.
However, for Journe and De Bethune enthusiasts the high point of the week was undoubtedly the F.P. Journe and De Bethune curated collections at WatchBox, which drew enormous interest and which were of great importance as a cultural event, as well as an opportunity for collectors.
