Our response to the Gartner HR Toolkit: Taking the thinking further

At the start of each year, Gartner analyses the current situation for HR professionals and offers guidance on how to develop practice. The thoughts and ideas presented are often insightful and always based on the reality of what it means to manage people.??

?

In our current times, it is ever more challenging to work in human relations and offer work experience that bridges the gap between the company and the talent employed. So, it is always comforting to find resources that aim to support people managers in making the best strategic choices.?

?

While we loved the ideas presented, we want to change the paradigm of how we maximise the potential of organisations and the professionals they employ.? Reading through the points raised by Gartner, we saw that there was much we could add to the thoughts, extending further the suggestions offered. While Gartner stayed within the lanes of current approaches to HR, offering tweaks in practice and mindset, we want to suggest a more revolutionary approach.?

?

Exploring the nine tools in the Gartner HR toolkit, there is an overarching theme of non-traditional strategies that deal directly with the human being. While it shouldn’t be revolutionary for a Human Resources team to think about the human, the emphasis has often been more on the resources than the people. Therefore, strategies have tended to mimic those of logistic managers, moving the chess pieces as part of an overarching strategy.?

?

In our eBook, we show how you can take this theme of the human over the resource and demonstrate how to evolve the approach to people management. Sometimes tweaking the edges isn’t enough. Acknowledging that hiring from within is a practical approach to the talent crisis, doing this effectively is another. Finding non-traditional candidates might appear to be a sound aspiration, but how do you see this candidate????

?

Download our eBook today to learn how a change of mindset is required to make the choices needed for the future of work.?
