The Connection at St Martin-in-the-Fields
The Connection at St Martin's works with homeless people in London to discover their strengths and rebuild their lives.
We’re pleased to see that the Government will be making changes to proposals in the Criminal Justice Bill https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-69005091
The reference to people being moved on or even fined for ‘smells’ will be removed, following widespread objections by MPs.
However, these changes do not go far enough, and people who are really struggling could still be targeted as a ‘nuisance’ and made more vulnerable by this law.
People must not be punished for rough sleeping. Instead, we need to make sure that they are offered appropriate support and accommodation to help them out of homelessness. ?
