Our partnership with Strada AI, an update on connectivity, DIGITAL DEMO DAY 2023 with Vodafone UPLIFT, and the UAS Forum Sweden

Welcome to the September edition of the Connected Drones newsletter by AirborneRF!

In this edition of the newsletter, we’ll be kicking off with some exciting news about our new partnership with Strada AI, an Aloft partner, which will shake up the stagnant Italian drone market. Afterwards, we’ll take a deeper look into cellular connectivity market numbers and what this means for the industry today.

?Finally, also give a recap of Digital Demo Day with Vodafone UPLIFT in Düsseldorf and the presentation of our DroNet alongside our update on the UAS Forum in Sweden.?

Let’s get started!

Partnership between STRADAai and Dimetor is setting higher standards for Italian drone technology

Dimetor and STRADAai have entered into a collaboration to support the implementation of drone services in Italy at scale and enable commercial BVLOS operations by 2030, by supporting the commercial drone roadmap published by ENAC - Ente Nazionale per l'Aviazione Civile.

This partnership comes right after the Italian Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) market was estimated to reach €1.8 billion by 2030, according to a research study conducted by PwC.

The research showed that, in Italy today, there are five main mission clusters, also known as use cases, that have been identified as key contributors to market expansion: (1) passenger transport, (2) goods transport, (3) image and data acquisition, (4) aerial work and (5) defense.

However, they also highlighted a different fact, which is that Italy is currently at the beginning of unlocking this market potential. The ecosystem needs new organizations to step in and support governments to provide the infrastructure that will allow these innovative new technologies to serve the people waiting for them.

Presenting DroNet at DIGITAL DEMO DAY with Vodafone UPLIFT in Düsseldorf

At the annual DIGITAL DEMO DAY (renamed Future Tech Fest) in Düsseldorf, we were able to jointly present our DroNet solution alongside Vodafone UPLIFT. The event was created to help showcase upcoming tech innovations in the European market.

DroNet is a drone operations solution designed to answer the critical questions surrounding the practical implementation of drone operations at scale, including:?

?? How many people are present below the flight path?

?? How stable is the cellular connectivity between the pilot and the drone?

By addressing these top questions, DroNet is able to expedite the approval process and improve the overall safety of airborne drone operations.

We had the honor to participate in the annual UAS Forum Sweden, which highlighted the current need for drone connectivity in the Nordic region.?

Our project manager, Gorazd Mirkovski, attended and shared with the audience how the AirborneRF solution provides data for mission and operation critical services and how ground and air risk assessment for drones can be done over cellular networks.

When asked how promising the drone market is in Sweden, Gorazd compared it to how things work in other areas of technology. He told the event that just as cars need good roads and 5G phones need strong networks to work well, BVLOS drone operations also need a solid support system to be successful.

The presence of representatives from both communication service providers (CSPs), mobile network operators (MNOs) and the aviation sector at this forum clearly showed that the BVLOS IoT drone market in Sweden is at a fairly mature stage. It's clear that the necessary services for safe and large-scale drone operations are being carefully put in place.
