Our paper, “Three Dimensional Volume Coverage in Multistatic Sonar Sensor Networks”, has been accepted for publication in IEEE Access.

Our study presents an extensive survey of the state of the art in MSSN deployment and coverage. We propose a practical three-dimensional channel model for MSSN and evaluate our model using Lybin. This way, we cover realistic propagation conditions such as sound velocity gradients, absorption/spreading losses, and shadow zones. We propose an algorithm which yields the number of source-receiver pairs for coverage in a given network volume. We analyze and show the feasibility of our model in terms of transmission frequency, range and source level. The results of our analyses further reveal the limitations on the applicability of the Cassini oval and traditional sonar detection models in real-life deployment scenarios.
