Hydroponic Systems at Fruit Attraction 2024: A resounding success

We are thrilled to have recently participated in Fruit Attraction 2024. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with so many industry professionals, share experiences and showcase our innovative systems live. Visitors could see our most advanced solutions, designed to optimize production and sustainability in greenhouses.

During the event, many of the conversations revolved around one of the topics growers talked about the most: strawberry crop density in greenhouses. At Hydroponic Systems, we have perfected our systems to maximize planting density without compromising crop health, allowing for higher yields and efficient use of space.

Density in greenhouses

One common misconception in the agricultural sector is that packing more plants into your greenhouse will result in a higher yield of fruits and vegetables. While this might seem logical at first, experience has shown that it’s not always true. The key is to find the right balance and focus on maximizing the yield of each individual plant.

For example, would you rather have 1,000 plants producing 0.4 kg of strawberries each, or 500 plants yielding 1.4 kg each?

A strawberry grower in the UK faced this challenge. He had 18 growing lines per section, with gutters from another supplier. His yield was 0.613 kg per plant. Concerned, he reached out to us for advice. We suggested reducing the lines to 12 and upgraded his system by introducing our Spacers to improve aeration. As a result, his yield increased to 1.4 kg per plant.
