NEW BRAND IDENTITY!

To be saddled with managing the Corporate Brand and Identity of an energy corporation worth over USD13.2 billion as of its?establishment (1989) as the Corporate Brand and Identity Advisor is fantastic.

Now, to be responsible for driving the Brand and Identity transformation project of the same energy corporation with huge brand equity garnered for over 35 years of establishment and 25 years of operational excellence is incredible. It leaves a lot?of weight on your shoulders, and it is definitely career-defining and impacting.

I have been opportune in my short career span to drive a?few pivotal and integral organization transformation projects like organization culture transformation projects, and they were indeed herculean. However, with the unwavering support of my team, we always succeed.

The task of designing and curating the new Corporate Visual Identity elements (CVIs) of NLNG to reflect and accentuate its aspiration as an energy industry leader committed to meeting the growing global energy demands of the world, providing energy security thereby eradicating energy poverty and doubling down on its commitment to a cleaner and more sustainable future was definitely an exciting project to jump on.

Technically, I also knew what I was setting myself up to. I knew I would practically lose my sleep for the next couple of months, if not careful, for more than a year as it takes practically between 9 to 12 months to deliver projects of such magnitude (if delivered firing on all cylinders). Guess what, we don’t back down from generational projects like this. We are built for times and projects like this. They get us excited to no end! And I am always very grateful to all my mentors and principals for such huge opportunities. Thank you!

I knew I had to roll up my sleeves, up my ante, and get to work. It is going to be colossal. This is a story that can’t be told in just one article/post, in due course I will be telling my story in bits as the opportunity provides itself without specifics to confidential details.

Taking on this project, one very clear mandate on my mind was that we were going to deliver top-notch, iconic iconography and corporate visual identity (CVIs) elements that are emotive, contemporary, simple, unique, recognizable, and memorable. It was going to be a huge shift from where the visual identity of NLNG used to be. It was going to reflect the business aspiration and strategy and very well define the brand character and brand persona. We were going to do the unexpected.


On this very exciting Friday evening, October 11th 2024, as I walked the aisle with the very highly esteemed (Olori) Dr. Nike Akande CON, a 2-time Minister of Industry of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the past President of The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), joy filled my heart knowing that we are about to birth something that will transcend decades to come and impact positively the world of energy globally.

We successfully launched and unveiled the new and well-refreshed corporate brand and identity of NLNG. A milestone that will forever be etched on my mind. We have successfully delivered the critical path of a project that normally takes circa 12 months in far less time frame. Now, I dare say, that?what we delivered was monumental, epic, and historical. Once again God has provided us the opportunity to write our names in the annals of history.

We delivered an iconic iconography that reflects the business evolution as an energy industry leader. The new visual identity is focused on the trade name ‘NLNG’ and most importantly our commitment and drive for a shift toward a more sustainable future.

There were huge lessons I gleaned on Strategic Branding: From Corporate Behavioural Insight to Business Growth, Fundamentals of Branding (Corporate & Personal Branding Principles), Social Engineering, Psychology of Colours, How The (Human) Brain Learns & Works, Stakeholder Mapping and Management, Brain Non-Intrusive Interrogation and Interaction, Creativity Mechanics, Creativity Optimization and Redirection, Breakthrough Idea Conceptualization and the list goes on. I will share as the opportunity provides again without specifics to confidential details.
