Our moon shot

Our moon shot

As we begin 2021, we have set ourselves a new long term moon shot for Yellow Edge.

Over the last few years, we have set and have achieved several moon shots as a company. These have galvanised our collective imagination and effort and provided us with a framework to strive within.

Our moon shot for 2021 however is our most ambitions yet: “It is to build a sustainable company.” For us at Yellow Edge, sustainability is:

·       Not harming the environment and our planet

·       Reducing any company vulnerability

·       Finding and maintaining equilibrium between purpose and profit

·       Not expanding for the sake of it, but thriving in depth, effectiveness, confidence, capability, connections, reputation and impact instead

·       Facilitating modest and enduring wealth for our people

·       Being ethical in intent, means and ends

·       Playing the long game

While we have already begun to shoot for this moon in many ways, actually landing this moon shot will be a longer term endeavour and will be no easy feat as it requires new and imaginative ways of working, of serving clients and running a business.

A key vehicle for us to achieving our ambitions will be obtaining B Corp status, a rigorous accreditation process for a global standard which we have spent the last 10 months preparing for. B Corporations, or B Corps, make decisions that make a positive impact across their people, customers, suppliers, community, and the environment.

Certified B Corporations are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. https://www.bcorporation.com.au/

This is a crucial step for us on our journey to become a sustainable company. But as important, is the collective ability of our people to demonstrate sustainability leadership. Such leadership is deeply concerned about people and the planet first, and profitability as a consequence.

The challenge we have set ourselves is a tough one, but one that is inherently empowering, creative and important. We extend an invitation to all who work with us, our clients, associates, suppliers and partners to join us as we try to do our small part in helping our planet.

Congratulations Andrew - a great vision and goal
