?? Here are the latest updates regarding CO2 as a refrigerant:
We've been hearing concerns about high compressor pressure, durability, and performance. So today, let's address these head-on with some technical insights.
First off, let's talk about pressure: #CO2 operates at 57 bar pressure at 20°C, which is indeed high. But with new refrigeration components handling pressures up to 120 bar, we are well-prepared.
During our development phase, we encountered challenges with dry ice and pressure concerns. But through careful parameter control and persistence, we found solutions. We have been working on CO2 since 2019. We only had to speed up our process and find a solution faster.
With stress testing, where every part undergoes a minimum of 8000 hours of continuous temperature changes, we got great results: The failure rates were extremely low. In some cases we could not calculate a rate as there are still no failures.
Our final CO2 cooling circuits performed remarkably in the entire range of +180°C to -50°C.
So, to those who doubt CO2's capabilities, we say: let's face the challenge together. CO2, show us what you've got! ??
Refrigerants in self-contained refrigeration systems must comply with a #GWPlimit of 150 by 2025.
What does this mean for you?
With devices and systems for environmental simulation tests typically operating in temperature ranges from -40°C to over 100°C, ensuring precise control and adherence to various test specifications is paramount.
While single-stage refrigeration systems with R449A reach a minimum temperature of -40°C, cooling slows down from around -25°C. Our #CO2 (R744) systems, on the other hand, can cool powerfully down to -50°C with much higher heat compensation.
So fear not, with CO2, we can cool down to -50°C even more effectively than with our previous refrigerants.

But what about those ultra-low temperatures?
For chambers requiring even colder temperatures, we'll continue to utilize our other refrigerants, with cascade systems using R-449A/R-469A/R23.
