How often do marketing teams, plan and strategize on how they can get a bigger piece of the pie, a higher market share?
Marketing professionals and agencies are being paid tens and hundreds of dollars to implement and execute marketing activities with a favorable ROI. This is not unheard of, Marketing accompanied with sales is the engine of any company. Marketing is one of the ongoing drivers of business growth and is often misunderstood. I always say" You are not marketing to robots". This is often overlooked and marketing teams can simply not continue to use a mundane strategy to get the market's attention.
In Marketing, market research is vital to the systematic collection and evaluation of data regarding customers' preferences for actual and potential products and services. Consumer preference, that's the gold. It is about the consumer in the end and not companies preference. When marketing efforts are not being effective as predicted, one of the ways to remedy that is to go back to the drawing board and understand your target market or your customer avatar.

A customer avatar, or buying persona, is?essentially a profile of the perfect customer or client. When you understand who your ideal customer is, what they look like, their habits, interests, challenges, aspirations, in fact everything about them, you'll be much more effective in marketing to them.

The truth is that we can't be marketing to everybody, everybody is not a buying persona. As Marketers, we need to shift our focus from the company objective and focus on the "people" we choose to serve in return it would positively impact business growth. Yes, you aren't always going to have Marketing campaigns with a high ROI, for the ones with the low ROI we learn from it, we study and try and understand "What went wrong" The answers are hidden in what we often choose to ignore.
