Our heroes - Bojana Alavanja
We have interviewed Bojana Alavanja to find out more about her path in Digitec Galaxus. What started out as a "one lady show" ended up as a team of 90+ people.
What motivated you to apply for Digitec?Galaxus?and stay??
I actually never applied and wasn't enthusiastic about the whole thing when the hiring agency contacted me. But when I opened the door for the first time, the light was pleasant in the room ?? and all the faces were friendly. That was promising. But what made me stay is the combination of freedom, nice and smart people, everyone's support in good and?less good times along with endless learning possibilities.?
Can you tell us more about your journey – how many roles have you changed, what did you learn so far??
Officially, I've had only one role in DG, but when I look back, I can say?it was changing on an hourly basis. You could see me:
- planning the resources for the peak season and buying a Christmas tree;
- installing an operative system for a new employee while discussing and setting goals for Belgrade Organisation and for Customer Service;
-?winning clients' hearts while feeding office pigeons;
-?holding a training and watering plants but more often forgetting to water the plants;
- opening new channels of communication with customers and making waffles for everyone between the project phases;
- insisting on a constructive drama but making regular office drama fun;
-?building new teams from scratch, and building my muscles carrying monitors from one floor to another;
?...and a lot of other roles in many many episodes.
But what's mutual for each of these scenarios is that: 1. I did nothing alone 2. I did everything for my team and 3. I've never lost myself.
?A lot of things came naturally as we grew together, but the list of learnings in DG would be endless.?
What did your first day in DG look like compared to today?
If you had told me on my first day "very soon you'll be in charge of 100 people" I would have fainted or faked fainting ??.?If you tell me now that my team has to grow to 1000 people tomorrow, our competitors would faint.
That's the difference. #piratisch
Your favorite moment(s) during these 5 years…??
- Every Monday when I meet with my team;
- Every time I could tell someone that they were hired or promoted was special to me because I enjoy seeing people get a recognition of their growth and?witnessing?those moments of happiness;
-?When the laughter fulfills the room out of nowhere;
-?Numerous funny moments in the communication with the customers. The more complicated the issue, the more room there is to build a special connection with them.
