Our Latest Connection Opportunities for the Science to Action Network

We are excited to see this productive network grow so quickly! Every member improves our ability to connect researchers and practitioners, to put science to action, and to end violence. Please continue to share this resource with others and help us expand our network!

Our Latest Connection Opportunities:

#1: Looking for thought partner in law enforcement

#2: What does the research say on guns in the home?

#1 Looking for a thought partner in law enforcement

We’re looking for someone in law enforcement, preferably with experience in homicide investigations or DV task force, to brainstorm ideas with us. Our team studies homicide of pregnant and postpartum women. So far, our focus has been on the medical/health field. We’re looking to understand the law enforcement perspective on responding to calls for DV, connection to services, and gaps in the process. We also want to talk to convicted perpetrators…so we’re hoping to brainstorm this process, obstacles, opportunities, and strategies.?

#2 What does the research say about guns in the home?*

I am part of a child fatality review committee. We recently reviewed a case that involved suicide by firearm of an adolescent. The firearm was legally owned and locked away in the home. This spurred discussion in the group about whether guns are more likely to be used against an intruder or a resident of the house. Basically, does the argument for guns as protection hold weight in the science literature???
