Our Impact and Responsibility

Our Impact and Responsibility

At Pas Normal Studios, we are in the midst of the inherent tension between our responsibility towards the environment and our mission to create modern uncompromising cycling wear to inspire and motivate dedicated cyclists globally.

We also recognize our role in creating a lasting and meaningful improvement for our communities and the environment. We have a responsibility to promote our sport in the most responsible way possible.

“Pas Normal Studios aims to become an industry leader in sustainable practices and reporting. There is a long and testing journey ahead of us, challenging ourselves to strike a balance between our environmental impact and the modern uncompromising cycling wear we stand for,” says Peter Lange, CEO of Pas Normal Studios.

Our impact spans the entire value chain. From the everyday operations of our business and the sourcing of the raw materials to the manufacturing of our products and their life-cycle. We are responsible for all our decisions.?

“We are aware that the linear system of 'take-make-dispose' is highly unsuitable for the long-term health of the planet, and life on it. We therefore work towards a radical change to achieve sustainability in our industry. While this radical change can not happen? overnight, we can improve current practices to reduce our impact, with our sights firmly set on both short-term and long-term goals”, says Charles H Clarke, Social & Environmental Impact Lead of Pas Normal Studios.

Currently, we are quantifying? our social and environmental impact in collaboration with the Sustainable Apparel Coalition & The Higg Index. This will? then be communicated both internally and externally, allowing for informed design decisions, alongside more transparent purchasing decisions. Our environmental impact will be calculated annually and measured against our science-based targets.? These emissions reductions targets are in line with the Paris Climate Agreement and form a key pillar in our strategy.

“We need to hold ourselves accountable to our targets, and make better decisions. That is why we have enrolled in the Science-Based Target Initiative and the Sustainable Apparel Coalition. The know-how of these organisations will help us create a baseline of the impact hot-spots in the value chain and work to improve on them,” says Clarke.

In the coming months and years we will be launching initiatives to reduce the impact of our products, and encourage a more sustainable cycling industry. These changes aim to both improve the environmental and social credentials of our products, and promote more responsible use of them, lowering the environmental impact they create.??

By adopting innovative business models, improved data and class-leading expert knowledge we aim to lead the way in creating the future of the cycling industry.

Going forwards we will be sharing more information about ongoing projects and our environmental and social impact. We strive to publish and update you on our Impact journey on a continuous basis.

Gives hope to see more and more companies committing to a more sustainable future. I much appreciate the honesty of your proposition, highlighting the tension between your desire to sell great products and the environmental responsibility that derived from it, which makes your words even more genuine. It’s a long path, a Gran Fondo I would say, but we have to ride it for us and for our beautiful planet. Cheers!

I am highly committed to sustainable development and ecological transition. It would be great to be able to develop my two passions in the same job! Cycling and fix a bit of not-our planet.
