- Water-loving plants are fun and exciting. You need not water them daily and do not need to bother about excess watering also. No need for draining holes or worrying about any potting media. They are ideal to be kept outside the entrance, patio, rooftops, and balconies. They look splendid and wonderful, especially when tall plants are potted in big pots and vessels.
- A?swamp?is an area where land is permanently saturated or filled with water. There are two types of wetlands: freshwater swamps and saltwater swamps. The Swamp Ecosystem acts as a water treatment plant. It filters wastes and purifies water naturally.
- Large ceramic, porcelain, cement, terra-cotta, polymer pots are ideal, preferably over 45 cm in height and about 30 cm wide. For smaller plants, you may use pots made of UV stabilized polymer.
- Many plants will be happy just with water and without soil; some plants may require muddy soil or swamp. It is good to change the water every seven to ten days. You would be amazed to know that several plants grow well in the swamp; even some palms like Red palm, Nypa Fruticans, Licuala Spinosa, Licuala Paludosa, Phoenix Paludosa, Phoenix roebelenii, and Oil palm can live in the swamp. You can add a small dose of liquid NPK in water periodically and use a foliar spray to leaves every two/three weeks for best results.
- You can have exciting experiments with some plant cuttings and rooting them in water. Begonia, Cissus, Coleus, Cordyline, Ficus, Hedera, Impatiens, Philodendron, Scindapsus, Syngonium, and Dracaena are some varieties that can survive and root in freshwater. You may even use your discarded bottles. The water should be kept clean and well aerated at a bright location out of direct sunlight.
