Our HPC and UHPC Standard
With this article we want to show you our standard specification of our HPC High Performance Concrete and UHPC Ulta High Performance Concrete. We have been developing, manufacturing and using HPC and UHPC materials for more than 25 years. During this time we have tried an incredible number of applications in a wide variety of industries. Our advantage in the development of HPC and UHPC materials has always been the practical reference or direct application. We also gave up internal competition for the highest compressive strength a long time ago. It is interesting to know that compressive strengths of up to 400 MPa (58000 psi) can be achieved in the laboratory, but what if the industry still has problems specifying concrete materials above 150 MPa.
So here is our HPC and UHPC standard
Our material standard
We develop and produce HPC High Performance Concrete and UHPC Ultra High Performance Concrete Binder, which can be mixed with water and aggregates to form concrete, mortar, grout, pavement or shotcrete. Our standard HPC and UHPC binders basically consist of a very high quality cement, microsilica and superplasticizer. The water-cement ratio w/c is between 0.18 and 0.22, depending on the binder quality.
Our technical standard
Compared to conventional cement binders, HPC and UHPC have enormous advantages. Conventional cement binders in connection with aggregates achieve a maximum average compressive strength of 80 MPa. Our HPC binder systems achieve a maximum average compressive strength of 130 MPa. Our UHPC binder systems achieve a maximum average compressive strength of 240 MPa (please note the diagram). The stated values refer to the pure mixture of binder + aggregate + water. A fiber or other reinforcement is not taken into account here. Our HPC and UHPC have so far met or exceeded all international material requirements.

Our processing standard
All of our HPC and UHPC can be processed with standard but powerful shaft mixers. HPC and UHPC mortars and shotcrete can be processed overhead. HPC and UHPC mortars can be processed with a standard trowel. HPC and UHPC castables are pumpable. Our HPC and UHPC materials do not require any additional amounts of cement, microsilica, superplasticizers or additives; our materials have been developed for optimal processing.
Standard HPC and UHPC Binder packaging
- 25 kg or 55 lb paper bags
- 40 paper sacks packed in shrink film on a wooden pallet, corresponds to 1 ton
- 1 to BigBag packed on a wooden pallet
- 20 to loaded in a silo vehicle
- Complete shipload
Interestingly, all of our HPC and UHPC binder systems are cheaper than most of our international customers think.
