Our Highlights from Milan Design Week
SKEEHAN Studio
SKEEHAN is a strategic design agency, working across furniture, product, brand and installation design.
This past month we’ve been keeping a close eye on what’s been happening at Milan Design Week. We have rounded up some of our favourite highlights to share with you.
Hydro displayed the world’s first industrial-scale aluminium products made of post-consumer material. With Lars Beller Fjetland leading the art direction, concept and strategy for the exhibition we were also fascinated by the plinth design to showcase these works.
Mater debuted their Alder Collection designed by Patricia Urquiola. The collection is made from Mater’s biodegradable Matek material, which is created from wast material such as coffee bean shells and sawdust. What particularly stood out for us at the studio was the art direction surrounding the launch. They partnered with Tableau to create the deconstructed floral installation.
Loewe commissioned 24 artists and designers from around the world to create lamps in materials and styles of their own choosing. The exhibition showcased distinct perspectives, materials, and craft practices to create unexpected interactions with light.
