Our Heart must be tested daily by the Lord!

Our Heart must be tested daily by the Lord!

In the profound prayers of the Psalmist, asking God to test his heart is the important prayer. "Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting". He prayed this heart touching prayer. This prayer is not only a prayer of the psalmist David, but also for all the righteous persons who want to live a life that pleases God without grieving His heart.

As the philosopher Socrates once said, "The life of a man who does not examine himself will never be successful!". If the ordinary philosopher of this World would say like this, when the Holy Spirit is telling us, "Examine yourselves!", how much more should we, as Christians, listen to this command.

The life of a Christian who does not examine himself is equivalent to a "non-maintained garden." Stay at your home for a few weeks or months without visiting your garden. Then go and look your garden. What do you see there? Not roses and tomatoes! Instead, you will find "weeds" growth in all four directions of the garden!!

Likewise, the Christian life of one who does not examine himself is equivalent to "a locked house." If you want to know this, lock your house carefully and open it a few weeks later. You will find the whole house dusty as you wonder "where was the dust coming from"!

Worse still, the life of a Christian who doesn't examine himself is like "an unlearned little child." If a child doesn't learn, the child will surely be like a barbarian. For a child studying in a school, has examination. There are teachings. There are advices and counselling. There is disciplined control. There is utmost care. Cleanliness is there. Nutrition benchmarking is there. Yes, all of these could make the child's life a happy and a completed life.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father! Thank you for realizing that the untested heart is a dusty house "like a locked house"! Grant us the grace to live by examining ourselves every day. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
