At Jikoni Recipe Archive, our mission is to honor the rich culinary heritage of Africa and the African foodways by preserving and amplifying the food stories that define these cultures.
In our founder's debut cookbook, AfriCali: Recipes From My Jikoni , this mission comes to life in the most delicious way possible!
AfriCali is more than just a collection of recipes; it's Kiano Moju's personal culinary journey that beautifully blends the bold flavors of her Kenyan and Nigerian roots with the sun-soaked ingredients of her California upbringing.
By merging old school traditions with new school creativity, AfriCali is a celebration of the past and the present all in one stunning cookbook — complete with plenty of photos from Kiano's travels in Senegal, Ghana, Kenya, and beyond.
The AfriCali book tour has just kicked off!
The AfriCali book tour features book talks and signings by Kiano Moju, plus plenty of delicious food from the book.
Each event is different from the last, and if you can’t make it to an in-person event, there's also a virtual event on October 1st where participants will cook AfriCali recipes together with Kiano!
AfriCali continued its exciting book tour with a Book & Bites event in Detroit on 8/30!
Hosted by the Culinary Arts & Letters Literary Society in the James Beard-nominated restaurant Baobab Fare , mouth-watering AfriCali nibbles were prepared with a focus on the rich flavors of Kenya. Guests indulged in mishkaki chicken skewers, pili pili beef fry, cauliflower bhajias, chapati, mandazi, and so much more.
