As part of our journey to becoming a B Corp at The Happy Prize Company, our travel division began the journey today to becoming carbon neutral, by offsetting 58.02 tonnes of carbon from our December and January flight activities. We did this by selecting ClimateCare, who offset our carbon emissions with projects that improve lives and help to tackle climate change.
The actions we're taking to reduce our footprint emissions are not perfect by a long way, but we knew we could no longer continue as we were. But they are a start. And as most CEO's and business owners know, just starting is one of the biggest steps a company can take. Our only regret is that we did not begin this process earlier.
Moving forwards, offsetting with ClimateCare means we'll be contributing towards important projects, such as the multiple award-winning LifeStraw Carbon for Water Project, which delivers safe water to more than 4 million people in Kenya, generating significant carbon reductions and enhancing the health of local communities by reducing exposure to waterborne disease. Other projects include the provision of clean cookstoves in Ghana, which significantly improve health while cutting emissions and reducing deforestation.
We're excited to work with ClimateCare who are experts in this field, with fifteen years’ experience running some of the most innovative and largest carbon offset programmes in the world. Working with them has helped us understand how we can integrate action to tackle climate change and improve people’s lives. If you'd like to hear more about how we're doing this, what it took to get here and anything else on the subject of carbon offsetting, just get in touch. I'd be delighted to discuss it with you.
