In 2022, Beau-Rivage continued its progress towards a more responsible way of operating, aiming in particular for carbon neutrality from 2023 but also by increasing waste recycling to 80%. Since 2019, 90% of disposable plastic has been eliminated or replaced. ?

For example, room keys are now made of wood. On a day-to-day basis, numerous actions are carried out such as lowering the temperature of offices in winter, recycling customer soaps and regular training to raise employee awareness of concrete measures in favor of the environment. In this sense, the company encourages them to make the choice of a more sustainable mobility through a participation in their subscriptions to public transport. ?

At the same time, the hotel continues to contribute with its customers to the "Cause We Care" fund. As part of this initiative, guests have the opportunity to voluntarily offset the CO2 emissions generated by their stay. At the same time, Beau-Rivage doubles these contributions and invests them in municipal reforestation in Nicaragua. Finally, among the new features in 2022, Beau-Rivage has initiated, in partnership with SIG and RVM, the creation of a recycling channel for Tetra Pak packaging, which did not exist until then.?

?

As of 2018, Beau-Rivage Geneva continues to use the GeniLac solution for its air conditioning system, which uses lake water to cool the air. The quantitative benefits are an 80% reduction in CO2 emissions, an end to the use of greenhouse refrigerant gases, an 80% reduction in electricity consumption and a 10% reduction in water consumption. ?

In early 2023, the hotel signed the Swiss Sustainable Leaders Charter. This detailed charter emphasizes four main areas of responsibility: ?

  • Contributing to constructive and respectful working conditions for employees.??
  • To promote a common understanding of sustainable economy as a condition for the sustainability of the organization?
  • Reduce CO2 emissions, waste production and negative impacts on living spaces. ?

On the restaurant side, Le Chat-Botté, the hotel's Michelin starred table, offers a menu mainly composed of seasonal and local products. The chef works hand in hand with producers in the Geneva area from whom he obtains vegetables, cheese, honey, fish, eggs and poultry. Water management is also at the heart of the project, and a filtering system has been put in place to offer the hotel's restaurant guests "0 km" water, local and perfectly filtered, with a delicate texture and packaged in glass bottles.?
