Our Endgame Playbook

We do not need anymore “Systems” or “Programs” for the human condition. We need a strategy.

I read an article yesterday identifying 11 subconscious biases, and the author suggested that knowing these things could help an organization put systems in place to combat them. My immediate response was ???

ALL of our biases, conscious or not, have one thing in common: A personal bias against something within ourselves. Whatever we are not at peace with, within ourselves or our lives, will trigger us when we see it in others. You can’t get something from nothing. If you have no discontent within yourself, then nothing can trigger what is not there. Get what I’m saying?

Try as you may, you and your company can’t ‘system’ your way out of something that is deep in someone’s psyche.

Putting systems in place to try to corral humanity's self-loathing will never work. If we don’t start taking all the research being done right now, as a framework to understand what's underneath - as a map to help us with a strategy to heal what lies beneath – then we will get nowhere.

Any investment in a “system” or “program”, to snuff anything like this out in your company culture, will only push those burning human condition embers somewhere else, to set something else on fire later. I know this because that key insight is based on one of those pesky scientific laws I keep talking about:

?The law of the conservation of energy states that:

“energy can neither be created nor destroyed; rather, it can only be transformed or transferred from one form to another.”)

Thoughts and feelings have frequencies, we can measure those things now. They initiate a cascade of hormones and neurotransmitters and electrical currents in the body. They are energy, energy cannot be created or destroyed. The energy of a trigger goes into our body and is transferred into feelings and thoughts, that energy has to go somewhere.

Takeaway on this is:

"if you don't have a strategy to transform it, you will only transfer it."

Or, as I like to say: "If we don’t heal it, we will store it"

Please contemplate the image here with that in mind.

(or you can read what I wrote about it on IG)

?

Here’s another universal force at work that makes me sure I am calling this correctly.

?

The First Law of Motion states: "A body at rest will remain at rest, and a body in motion will remain in motion unless it is acted upon by an external force." This simply means that things cannot start, stop, or change direction all by themselves. It takes some force acting on them from the outside to cause such a change.”

These forces are at work in our healthcare system, and in cookie cutter “wellness programs”, that I described the article “Exposing Corporate Wellness” that I published here yesterday. And after you have read this article, and that one, you will start to see universal forces at work EVERYWHERE and in EVERYTHING. You will not see any of it the same way again.

You’re welcome.

?Our one-pill, one-cure society forced our healthcare system into a corner a long time ago. (and I know that’s a chicken and egg debate so I’m not going there right now – it doesn’t change the huge problem we have right now anyway). Regardless of who or what is at fault, this over-burdened system has no choice at this point but to shut the symptom up with a pill. In universal law language, what that means is we are transferring/redirecting the imbalance/inflammation to a different body system, and thereby pushing the compounding root cause of the imbalance down the road. 5-10-20 years later, it will turn into an illness or disease. (That’s why your sick leave and stress leave for employees over 35 is high right now.)

See what I meant yesterday? About why wellness programs that only manage the symptoms of underlying issues, are so ineffective? They can literally set you up for higher costs later. It’s all so backwards.

If we continue to only transfer the discomfort to a different body system, or to a different part of ourselves, (emotions and inflammation hide in all kinds of physical, conscious and subconscious places) all it takes is an event - a stress response or accident/trauma - to spark a flare up. In universal law language, that event provides outside external force (momentum,) to transfer those “minor” symptoms, that have been at "rest" since they were redirected by a medication at age 25, to turn into devastating news at 45.

Inflammation is the body’s way of saying, hey, something is not okay here. If you dose that little fire with a bucket of fire retardant, to force it down to the level of smoldering, you will get by with less heat and only a faint smell of smoke, for a while. One really dry week, one isolating pandemic, one spark of stress or trauma, and it can burst into bigger flames than before.

I once titled one of my clients wellness recovery strategies “Avoiding the hard no.” I always attempt to come up with a clever name for their strategy that resonates with them and will inspire them. It makes them feel heard and seen, and we need to feel heard and seen before we can heal.

When I looked at everything she had been through and what she was currently holding, I told her point blank, “No one can do this, no one can hold this much and not break. We are going to try to make it under the wire without a hard no from your adrenals, okay?”

She burst into tears of relief. She needed someone to see the weight of the world she was holding and acknowledge that her feelings of pending breakdown, of falling apart and never coming back from it, were justified. She needed permission to unload some of it, permission to rest. And here’s something, on the side, about that: without changing a thing the first few days after that appointment (I was putting her strategy together) her husband was shocked at the change in her. Even the perception or promise of rest starts to change the body’s attitude. The moment someone sees the cause and effect at play - the universal forces at work in their lives and their stories - and it becomes clear that it is not their fault, everything changes. Guilt, blame, shame, which keep us from moving forward, are neutralized and the invisible road blocks disappear. If trauma is in the way but it has been acknowledged - then just like the very thought of rest, the idea that the debilitating, arresting nature of trauma stuck in the body, can be removed, begins to weaken the power of the trauma immediately. Awareness is powerful - but a strategy to do something with that awareness, turns my clients into an Avenger in their own universe.

If I had even $10,000 for every time a client has said “my whole life suddenly makes sense” I’d already be building my collaborative wellness centre. Sigh.

I can do the same for your company, btw. I can make every problem and every escalating cost you have, make sense in a way it hasn’t made sense before. Once it makes sense according to universal math, the solution gets a lot easier – because you end up with a strategy that works WITH universal forces and scientific laws, instead of against them. Our economy is built around trying to outwit these forces and that’s why there is so much disparity everywhere. Newton’s 3rd law has come to call, the law of the conservation of mass has come to call, the laws of energy in motion have run out of tolerance for our resistance. To an economic analyst this might look like dooms day. But it’s not. These forces are fucking powerful. And at the point where we turn around and start working with them, instead of fighting them, is the point where we save the whole world. If we keep pushing against, then we will deal with the earth’s handler, and it will be much worse. No one likes Thanos.

So to end this weekend ranting of mine, in case I haven’t been clear enough – doing business and life this way is a lot easier, it’s less expensive and Newton’s 3rd law says the ROI is guaranteed. Approaching your people, processes and polices this way gives you a magical ability to put the fulcrum in a new place - for a powerful new leverage. When the universe has your back, your 1 in 14 million chance of winning, improves.

Such a good point here - it's imperative that comapnies double down on the investment of their people, especially as we chart in to new waters with AI/advanced technologies. Thank you for the work you do!
