Our Emotional Intelligence

Our Emotional Intelligence

The emotional self-control is possibly the most valuable skill we can acquire. It can help us overcome a lot of situation which life throws at us.

Do we know what our emotions really mean or how to recognise them? All it takes is our emotions for us to feel something. Directing our own emotional state can help us in self-empowerment.

With our experience through our lives, we are conditioned to develop patterns on how we react to situations based on our beliefs and attitude developed by our family and friends.

This is just not limited to children but to us adults as well when we showcase a reaction which is highly influenced by people around us. Many negative situations give us a positive benefit. For eg: like we feel anxious about a presentation that we have, the thought may push us to work even harder in turn giving us success.

Firstly, we should develop an awareness that we are reacting to our programming. Once we are aware, we can show our mind that there are different other possibilities for the same problem and try to adopt a new way of thinking about the problem. Implementing these small changes will help in changing our emotional state.

On the emotional scale, we have positive and negative emotions. The most common negative emotions are uncertainty, Anxiety and fear. We should use self-control techniques to help defuse the emotions and to move up in an incremental way on the emotional scale.

We can always focus on our smaller circle of influence i.e. the things we can do which creates impact or brings change.Unfollow people who bring you down emotionally.

Make yourself the priority in your life and become your own student. This way we can help ourself be empowered. A regular fitness regime which you enjoy like walking, dancing, running can also help improve ourself emotionally. Change can be difficult and we all know it but taking small steps can show an incremental boost in our emotional intelligence.
