Our DTP department points out the most common ordering errors: Part II
Books Factory

You are asking us?about more examples of common mistakes that may appear during the ordering stage.
We are not surprised, because most of these issues you can fix quickly or take care of earlier. Thanks to that, we all save time and reduce anxiety. Especially during the season, when everyone is concerned about deadlines.?
So, look at the second part of a list made by our DTP department.
No information on the number of colour pages:
When you order books with colour pages, please specify the page numbers on which these colours appear. The rest of the pages printed in black and white should be converted to greyscale.
Book block as spreads instead of individual pages:
The pages should be single – one after the other in the correct order from first to last. We do not accept files where the book block contains spreads.
No bleeds in the file:
Even if the bleed is only on one side, the design should include a 3 mm bleed on each side.
NOTE: for sewing books, the internal bleed in a block should be removed.

No bleed connection/graphic merging on spreads:
Sewn books: if the block had an inside bleed removed, and the graphic reaches the inside edge, it is necessary to note whether the graphic joins as it passes from one side to the other.
Unembedded fonts:
All used fonts must be added to the file (embedded) or curved (converted to curves). We recommend embedding font. Apply to curve only as a last resort. The file increases a lot in size when fonts are as vectors.
Unconverted colour photos during monoprints:
Photos printed in black and white must be converted to greyscale. Otherwise, the machine automatically converts them and may come out too dark.
These are another six common problems encountered by our DTP department. We will share more with you over time.
Write to us if any issue is of particular interest to you or requires further explanation.
