Our Discovery Continues

During our site visit to Ronda, we had plenty of contact with nature, with a visit to Dehesa Biodinámica and the Finca la Donaira an agroecological project that brings people closer to biodynamic agriculture and permaculture, learning and re-educating people’s habits.

I was taken through an incredible journey, surrounded by more than 700 hectares of mountain forest and organic farmland, experiencing their traditional garden, their approach to nature and visiting a multitude of farm animals - a truly balanced ecosystem

Theirs is a unique and authentic approach that offers experience tourism which helps to understand that there is a different way of life. It shows how organic food is produced and the importance of raising animals roaming free.

As soon as I stepped on the grounds of this idyllic Finca, I felt catapulted back to when I was a child. Their garden was filled with fresh herbs that I had not smelt since I was 10 years old.

I remember, back when I was a child, I used to spend my weekends in the summer with my grandparents in our house in the countryside. My grandma used to harvest grapes for homemade wine and I helped her make tomato sauce in jars for cooking later in the year.

The smells, tastes and views when visiting the Finca la Donaira brought me back to those times. It was incredible.

If it was up to me I would have happily stayed there for at least a couple of weeks, however, we continued our fun fulfilling site visit and drove to another beautiful place, La Organic Experience.

There we had a private guided tour around the length of the estate, surrounded by nature, surprises and sculptures. In the end, there was an olive oil making as well as tasting, and it was fantastic!

Do you know what the difference between a green and black olive is? It took us a while to guess the answer too, but it turns out that a black olive is a more mature version of a green one!

The experience there was unique as I managed to harvest my very own bottle of olive oil. Yes you heard well, I picked up olives from branches in a very specific way and then tipped them into a machine left it a few hours and by the time my visit was done at La Organic, my bottle of olive oil was waiting for me at the exit.

I must say, I have never done that before in my life. This is definitively something we will be doing at our event in October!

Please stay tuned for the next blog in which we share more wonderful adventures in Ronda.

See you soon!
