Even as the Brain Computer Interface (BCI) is yet emerging and developing, we need to concede, that nothing happens a silo, and the future is always a product of convergences. Before our computing devices on the tech store shelves go BCI, we have already realized the advent of the Cloud, which is not just here to stay, but here, to take us through many future technological evolutionary cycles and leaps for at least decades to come.

Foundation: Brain Computer Interface

The Brain Computer Interface, is that computing interface, where instead of your fingers, you communicate your instructions, to your computing device, with your brain, directly and literally. It means, you think an instruction, that your computer reads through a sensory system for input, and then, it carries out or executes that instruction.

Game-Changer: Cloud

The entire trajectory of how data or information is stored, accessed or communicated, completely transformed, with the emergence, and then subsequently, the advent of the cloud. And that, therefore, effectively, fundamentally changed, the entire trajectory of how the future of computing will continue to evolve. And then in-turn, the trajectory, of the evolutionary futures of the human-technology relationship, changed forever as well.

The most important element of Cloud Computing, is that it shifts computing from Computing Device, to the Cloud, making Computing, independent of the device, and therefore the role of the device in computing, secondary. This is what renders the promise and premise of the Brain-Cloud Interface, EPIC!

In the future world driven by Cloud, in which a global universal architecture is imminent, the Computing Device, is merely, a medium for access, to unlimited, unhindered, Computing and Human-Technology Interaction.

Instead of swiping off your screensaver on a smartphone or tablet, or pushing the power button on your laptop, you will wake up to put on a Head-Mounted Device, ask to connect to the Cloud, and you will have access to the world. More probably, you will not even require any such dedicated device. The connected objects around you, thanks to the Internet of Things advancing, such as your table lamp, your ceiling fan, your air-conditioning unit, your watch or sneakers, will all work in concert, ubiquitously, to read your mind, and relay information back to you in a multitude of ways, including holographics, Mixed Reality and so on.

Made Possible: The Global Brain & X Reality

Long considered stuff of fantasy, along with a host of other currently emerging technologies as well as a host of currently essential technologies, two technological realities will come to manifest, thanks to the Brain-Cloud Interface, to evolve our very human experience altogether, bringing us into a new epoch; The Global Brain and Extended Reality (X Reality or XR) .

The Global Brain

In the Brain-Cloud Interface, era, it will not be a single person or user, connected directly to cloud, by thought. It will be, everyone. And so too, every article of technology, with a chip in it, as a connected device. Every human, hardware and even software or virtual actor, will be an information node or information point, acting as a "cell",supporting input, relay, flow, transfer, processing, collaboration and whatnot. Just like how things work inside a single living biological human brain.

X Reality

X Reality is that tech-enabled environment in which a human user or beneficiary will transcend actual physical world and virtual world realities seamlessly, where both are intertwined, to experience virtual Omnipresence, Omniscience and Omnipresence, where virtual and physical articles of technology serve as surrogates as well as enhancers for communication, perception, understanding, learning, decision-making and execution. This is made possible, when the human senses and thought, directly interact, with elements across virtual and physical spaces, concurrently, directly.
