Our Danny Is On The Move Again

#DannyDays-I just heard from "our" Danny that he is en route to Psynergy Morgan Hill from Sacramento. He called me from the van just now to tell me he loves me. We love him so much and we love Psynergy Programs. They are truly authentic partners in care with Danny and our family.

We hope that this will be the year Danny will gather enough recovery tools to empower him to return to Contra Costa County and live closer to his family. Psynergy has been amazing for Danny but they are not "permanent" supportive housing. They could be or should be for some of our loved ones who need more than a bus ticket or a roomkey with drive-by case management. That should be a conversation for the Care Act, SB 43, and Prop 1 Implementation conversations.

Until everyone understands the need to connect the safety net to all bridges and ladders along the LPS conservatorship continuum, too many of our most vulnerable SMI loved ones will keep falling off the cliffs of our state. Appropriate placements must be available all along the continuum. No one size fits all.

The "human log jams" will continue on our streets, in our jails, prisons, and back bedrooms of elderly parents' homes until we scale up #HousingThatHeals. No one residential model will work until we create a safe flow and continuity between the transitions of care. I have seen it happen. I know it's possible.

We can stop #TrackingTheTragedies if we develop authentic partnerships with peers, families, and providers. You can't leave anyone out of the care conversation.

Today, with luck and heroics, I know our Danny is safe. My vision of hope will continue until all of our loved ones receive the right care, at the right time, in the right place.
