At Best Buy Health, we prioritize the holistic well-being of employees through our Path to Wellness program so employees are better equipped to take care of themselves and in turn, our customers. The wellness program we’ve built empowers employees to take care of their holistic well-being, and as a company that has expertise in enriching and saving lives through technology and meaningful connections, it’s what we do. At Best Buy Health, wellness isn’t just an employee benefit, it’s a representation of who we are, our culture and our company values.
How we facilitate wellness.
Well-being is personal and multi-dimensional, and wellness priorities can change depending on life circumstances. With that in mind, being successful at maintaining or improving well-being requires setting aside time to pause and think about what’s important and then creating an action plan to support wellness priorities. We created the My Path Planner digital tool for employees to organize their wellness priorities and create a wellness plan. Although we encourage employees to create their own goals, we developed an Activities Inspiration Guide that lists a variety of free ways to engage in Community, Financial, Career, Physical, or Social well-being that they can choose from and add to their planner. This person-centered human approach to wellness is an evolution to the way we facilitate wellness that truly puts employees in the driver’s seat on their Path to Wellness.
Wellness takes a community.
Employees help shape our program each year and our leaders lead the charge promoting and participating in our wellness program. We design our annual wellness program offerings based on employee feedback, interests, and wellness trends that employees tell us are meaningful to them. Although we plan for the year, we stay open to make quick adjustments as needed to support and care for employees. During the pandemic and social unrest in 2020, we quickly adapted the wellness program to solely focus on supporting mental health, emotional agility and resilience, and completely digitalized our program to move onsite classes to an online platform. When our work or social environment changes, we think about what’s possible and look for opportunities to connect and engage employees in dialogue to strengthening our community.
A few program elements that we find work well in our wellness culture include live wellness classes, convenient virtual fitness classes that engage employees online and on-the-clock, and sharing inspiring stories of employees that take meaningful action towards personal growth leveraging the wellness program.
