Our creative wells

Being creative, that's a nurtured talent. Being a creative professional, well that's a different kind of jam.

I was brought up in a creative environment and went to Arts Highschool , with plenty of music, painting and similar art expressions for many years.?Moving to Bucharest from my small town was an expansion of that upbringing to a city with theatres and cinemas and dance companies and so on. When I chose creativity, advertising and communication as my profession, it was not a choice, but a natural continuation and an honouring of my origins. Now that I get to travel for museums, art spaces and events, well that's a privilege?I built for myself after 2 decades of consistent work in the field. And definitely one that I need in order to write?original brand stories.?

A creative professional is most of the time the one you expect to give you the best ideas for your brand, as if he or she will never be out of inspiration. Well, that's a false myth that's been cultivated in the systems that built the competitive and individualistic type of society. The truth is that no human is out of ideas.

My own Creative Well gets depleted if I don't balance pouring in with pouring out. Pretty simple as that!?

I started a couple of years ago, immediately after?leaving the environment of corporate companies and entering the start-up and entrepreneurship life, to build new rules and practices to cultivate and pour into my creative well. I am living now more aligned with the creative rhythms?of my body and not following the corporate, hustle-based clock. And it feels more human, more natural, especially because I am a woman, and creativity is feminine. One of the pouring in-strategies is to take creative days during the work week (which for a capricorn women are 7 day weeks) and visit joy creating places.?

Being in the creative field for so long means I've seen (and yes) done them all. A couple of years ago, while collaborating with my friend, we wanted to set-up an instagram museum in Bucharest. We did a pretty decent research and even considered locations and potential sponsors. But life got in the way and as me and my friend parted ways professionally, the idea got postponed for laterz.

Well, that later never came, so I just fed my need for more interactive, artsy spaces and communities by exploring outside Romania, to the USA and Spain. Over the past 3 years I got very hooked on digital art, immersive spaces like IDEAL in Barcelona.?Last year though, the crew from One Night Gallery opened MINA , the museum for immersive art. Got to visit their first series of shows with my friend Ramona Barbu and I can say that it is a space that brought a lot of joy to my soul. The organisers say that new shows will be available starting mid February, until then if you haven't checked their space yet, go to their page .

A short video sample of my visit is available on my Instagram: MINA 2023

This week I got to visit the second immersive space in Bucharest, ispace , located in Mega Mall (not a favourite place to go). Good content (but maybe ask for more guidance from the staff for the installations at the entry, I had a girl sharing the basics while looking at her phone constantly), an empty space just for myself during the day and seeing works curated by H3 was an OK combination.?

A short instagram reel is now available on my account for #ispace as well: Ispace.

For now, MINA has won my heart in terms of location, space area and versatility of content. Maybe because I already have a history with One Night Gallery and RADAR, but it's just more of what I associate art with.?Far from me to compare the two, I am just here to offer you the options and I am sure you’ll decide for your self. When you visit these places, though, try to match the mood to the actual location you are going to. Both locations (MINA and Ispace) are easily available, but #ispace is unfortunately smaller (or so it gave me this impression) and to be honest, associating it with a mall (especially with its food court floor) was not the best experience for me. Ispace has a good content and I am interested to see what they will do with the concept further on.?

Nevertheless, these art (and business) structures are not novel, and definitely not a Romanian innovation. Those of you out there know who teamLAB/Tokyo or?Atelier des Lumières/Paris ?are. But these are spaces in countries with a coherent cultural strategy and the management and budgets to follow. Here, often the innovative examples of culture are supported mainly by private companies. So we must explore them, support them and why not, ask for more of them.?

And a bit o connected astrology, as you already know I am an astrologer. We are approaching the first full moon (wolf moon) in Leo and I am fully open eyes?on such a heart-opening occasion. Even though it's a full moon in opposition with Pluto (the planet of deep transformation), I feel she will bring a lot of heart waves to a wintery time that got many of us more introspective and in the necessary place for clearing out the past. Use this full moon to return to your joy of heart, do something that brings you positive emotions, spend time with loved ones and most of all, remember that light is always brighter in the dark. These times will pass, these feelings will pass and the lessons will remain with us. Until then, spending a couple of hours with family and friends while visiting an immersive art space might just be the balm we need for now.?Pour into your creative well. That’s my most ardent guidance for you.

If you want to explore more of your creative essence and that 5th house of creativity that you have, but don't know where to start, we can dive deeper together.?A creativity and joy chart is just one consultation away.
